Pretty tough to diagnose. Sounds almost as if the float valves were stuck
shut, a blast of compressed air into the bowls through the fuel line will
break that loose. Or if it is vapor lock then try re routing the fuel line
away from any heat sources. Also could be a piece of floating debris in the
tank (in our more immature days we would put ping pong balls in peoples gas
tanks, they would get over the gas line and be sucked down against it and
then as soon as vacuum was relieved float back to the surface). Clogged
jets? If the bowl is full, the valves will close not allowing anymore fuel
to flow.

Of course, what I have learned about these carbs is this, "90% of all carb
problems are ignition problems" In other words ignition problems manifesting
themselves as carb problems. I worked on my carbs for months trying to get
them to run right, finally did...by changing my distributor cap.
