Hi, Dean
These aren't comprehensive details but are a combination of two
separate conversions that were briefly written up in SIXappeal - the
magazine of the Triumph 2000 2500 2.5 Register in 1985 and 1987.
Points shown are in no particular order of installation.

Take an engine an autobox from a Rover P6.You can also use a Stag
manual box with Stag clutch and coverplate but an adaptor plate will
be needed
Remove existing engine mountings, fabricate new ones. No measurements
or description of same
Remove P6 sump and fit one from a Rover 3500 SD1
Move radiator 3 inches forward and fit at least one electric fan. Two
would be better for Oz
Use both exhaust manifolds from a Rover P5B coupe, transpose them side
for side and mount them so they exit forwards
Use Stag exhaust system
Replace existing SU carb dashpots with stubbier versions from a
Dolomite Sprint. Failure to do this will require a sledgehammer to
bonnet underside to give clearance. Otherwise bonnet will close
without further modification.
Propshaft will require extension to a 3.7 Stag diff if you plan on an
autobox - otherwise stick with the 3.45 unit. It'll be great with an
overdrive.
Fit twin brake servos or a much larger single servo
Upgrade brakes with Stag calipers.
Upgrade front and rear suspension with stiffer dampers and front
springs. Fit rear springs from a 2500 Estate. fit front anti-roll bar
if one isn't already in place.
Tyres were minimum 175HR14 on Stag alloys. Wider boots would be better
but power steering will probably become essential rather than
desirable.
This all seems a lot of work when it might be easier overall to
upgrade the existing engine? Recently rode as a passenger in a Mk1 PI
saloon from 1969 that was claimed to be putting out 200bhp! Having
heard what was done and felt the pressure in my back as we moved off,
I wouldn't challenge the owner's claims! Of course, the V8 'noise'
wasn't there but that of an in-line six certainly was!
