Recently I bought from a friend a light duty arc welder (120v., no
shielding gas).  It's capable of welding metal 1/4 of inch thick, but
that's about it.

Today I got my el cheapo welding mask from Harbor Freight ("Made in
India" :-O), accompanied by instructions that the darkened glass plate
is rated as "number 10."

I presume this is sufficient eye protection for what I'm doing?  Anyone
know?
