This works better on the TR3 if you use the rearmost bow, not the middle one.
It's also great because it lets you adjust the tension on the top ... don't push
it all the way back in cold weather when the top is shrunken and stiff but do in
warmer weather when the top is softer and stretches a bit.

Once pushed into place, the bow will stay there by friction.

If you screw the clamping plates back onto the bow, it's unlikely anyone will
ever notice that the straps run over them instead of under them.  And if you do
decide to go back, you'll have the parts on-hand, not lost in the garage
somewhere.
