FWIW -- I carry an electric fuel pump as a spare for if/when the mech pump 
on the TR fails.  When in place and switched on that thing ticks constantly 
whether it is deleivering fuel or not.  Just the way some electric pumps are 
designed.

Not all that strange since, when you think about it, the mechanical pumps 
keep on trying to pump whether there is anywhere for the fuel to go or not.
