Something I did not know about until I moved to Arizona is that my insurance
carrier (Snake Farm) offers an optional "Full Glass Coverage". Even though
I carry high deductibles on collision & comprehensive this coverage gives me
zero-deductible on all 'glass'. This would be windscreens, side windows,
headlamps, even the plastic windows in the side curtains.

The agents encourage this in Arizona as desert driving is tough on glass. I
think they also like it because they have more control over the vendors and
don't have to deal with the guys who waive your deductible and give you 12
free steak dinners if you call them for glass replacement.

The agent has always given me the option of selecting who I want to do the
work but I just let them pick (I don't eat steak) as this isn't too
difficult and anyway I'm going to watch the work as it will be done in my
garage by a mobile service. They also cover replacement of the seal &
chrome strip if you request it.

Sorry I do not have the incremental cost handy but recall it was nominal --
I just pass it along in case you were unaware this may be an option on your
policy.

Geo (who's had 6 windscreen replacements in the past 10 years).
