Didn't some of the early TRs (TR2 and early TR3) use a Lockheed system -
could this be the one you have? I'm sure there are kits available to convert
to the later Girling set-up. 

By the way, according to recent reports there are now more 'Griffiths'
around in the US than were ever actually built!
