I agree that 50's vintage stock cars are a hoot and I enjoy seeing them.
Early Hudsons, Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles, Pan American Lincolns, are a part
of the era of vintage sports car racing.

The subject that is being debated is a little different and may not
affect folks in areas other than the Midwest, but I'm not sure.

At two events this year and last year in the Midwest, owners of
"vintage" stock cars were invited to vintage sports car events. These
are cars that look like current NASCAR stockers but are just slightly
out of date. The newest of these appear to be maybe five years old.
There is a club or association devoted to their restoration and racing,
mainly in the southeast, and they hold events just for these cars. So,
when they are invited to one of "our" events, the weekend takes on the
air of a combination of vintage SCCA and present day NASCAR road racing.

It's a little strange. They seem totally uninterested in "us" and we
seem only mildly interested in "them" - a totally different relationship
than, say, Triumph owners have to watching Ferarris....
