There were 2 incidents on Saturday serious enough to require that the
drivers be transported to the hospital. Walt Mathewson crashed his Cooper
into the wall at Turn 1 resulting in a neck fracture and broken? heel. In the
next session, Carl Moore (Terrell) hit the wall in the exit of Turn 7 just
after receiving a mechanical black flag for a loose engine hatch. We were
told that he had both ankles fractured and bumped chin. Both drivers were
removed with the help of the Jaws and the loss of the ambulances caused a
slight delay in the schedule of the day. Dorothy Brookman
