PIR, Phoenix International Raceway, is 10 miles west of downtown Phoenix on
Interstate 10. The exit is well marked, I think the # is 115. The actual
track is about 3 miles south of the Interstate. It hosts a Winston Cup race
in November, is the home track for an active NASA group on a 1.6 mile road
course which uses part of the oval, has covered pits (essential in the
summer here) and a fairly comlete set of vendors. The facilities are good
Winston Cup (not great) quality and the track is used by a large number of
groups.

Firebird Raceway is in the SW part of Phoenix and is a converted drag strip
that has hosted vintage races. Bob Bondurant has a race drivers school
adjacent. Neat track but not much elevation change.
Never been to PIR (Phoenix International Raceway) where CART runs and
occasionally vintage but figger it is west of Phoenix itself.
