Roy Axe was the '3rd man' in the design team, he had just finished his
apprentership when the Alpine project was started, as he stated he was the
office junior and did all the dirty work. Cannot say to much as he has his own
section in the book. but yes he was involved and this was the start of an
amazing carrier.
The next two questions will also be covered.
Regarding the soft top, I have some interesting photos of another method of
storage that was going to be used, and they also will be published.
