Last week, a friend stopped over in his Alpine. He said there was a
strange whine/squeak coming from the back end. We went out in the car,
and a few miles down the road, the rear end LOCKED UP solid. Literally.
In the middle of the road. Couldnt move the car. (AAA took over an
hour)

Now ive been told that this can happen on Alpines. I'm not suggesting
that this will happen to you, but I know I'll have a little more
respect for strange noises from now on.

Incidentally, my back end (on the Alpine not me) has whined for years,
especially on power. The noise I heard from the back end that failed
was more of an alarming screech.

Havnt stripped it yet to find out what failed.

John
