I have developed a whine, growel etc noise in the rear end of my Alpine V.
The noise is only evident when power is applied to the drive train, that is
to say while accelerating of steady cruising but not during coasting (cluch
to the floor). I think this might be the bearing in the differential at the
drive shaft connect point.

Question is am I close to the problem?

Then, what is the best way to open up the differential and replace the bearing?
Do I need and special tools to remove and refit the bearing, and just what else
should I look at while I have it up on the jack stands?

After I hear from the net then I will go out and find the bearing and get to
work. One more weekend that I will not do what my wife would like me to do. The
cost of the Alpine overflows into every aspect of life, but it's worth it.

Thanks,
