Where is the leak. Gasket problems will typically cause the engine to appear to be boiling, with gas bubbles in the water. Water will come from the overflow pipe. When the engine cools, it often draws water into the cylinder(s). This is noticable on starting.

If you are losing power due to a gasket, you will know it. You will be running on less than 4, and is usually very noticable at idle( missing cylinder, rough).
