I am not sure if this is the Alpine motor he is talking about. But, if
it is, it is the second time in two weeks that I have heard about Alpine
engines going soon after a rebuild. The other is a Tiger/Alpine person
who told me he is on his third rebuild of a 1725 Alpine engine after the
crank bearings melted away as though they did not get any oil - even
though the engine was full. He claims that the oil pump is fine - though
he didn't replace it. He got a suggestion to boost the oil pressure -
but, he figures that would just put more oil on the top of the engine and
not help the bottom end. Does anyone know what is going on here? Is
there some common mistake being made?
