some may be interested to know that Rootes gradually replaced all of the
rounded corners (except for the front of the bonnet) with square ones to
save costs; it's easier to make square corners. Also they stopped leading
the joints between body panels for the same reason. These are some of the
reasons why in the 8 years they manufactured the car in England the price
at the dealership actually fell even though specifications went up. I'd
like to see that now.
Comparisons with their cheaper cars (minxes etc) shows how much effort they
put into the finish of the Alpine. And then we don't even notice until
we've had the cars for a couple of years.
