Transmission oil

There was a thread a few months back about gear oil, and if I'm not
mistaken, I read something about 30 weight non detergent? Was this gear oil
or motor oil? I'm trying to change my transmission oil in my series V, and
all I can find is 80w-90? What do I use, and what about the rear end?
