Pay no attention to my previous posting on this subject.

I must not have been paying attention, and now that Ive re-read this and
other
replies to this posting I see I missed the point.

The side cover plate does seap from the top 5 bolts.
These are the bolts that are in the cyl head.

The plates threads are tapped clear through the head, and
thus oil vapours find there way around the threads, and down
the plate (making a mess).

Use a non hardening thread locker/sealer be sure the oil is cleaned
off both bolt and fastener.

And John Souders tip on the flatness of the plate is very important
as the gasket is very thin, and not very tolerant to a distorted plate.
