Brake Calipers

Last night I was using pipe cleaners to clean out the fluid ports on a
very grungy caliper. Not more than 60 seconds after I thought to myself
"Boy it would really suck if one of these pipe cleaners broke off
inside", it happened. After a long frustrating battle trying to extract
the broken piece, I resigned myself to the fact that I would have to
start fresh with one of the spare calipers I have. At this point, having
nothing to loose, I decided to seperate the caliper halves.

I've read the manuals and various archives and know that you shouldn't do
this, but I'm wondering why the halves couldn't be rejoined. The manual
calls out a torque spec. Seems like any brake shop should be able to
torque everything down properly, then do a pressure test. Has anyone
done this before? Are there any hidden pitfalls that I'm not seeing
here?
