Jarrid and Rob,
        When the clutch is depressed, the pressure plate spring load is transferred
to the crankshaft and moves the crank forward against the (center main
bearing) thrust bearing. If you try to start the car with the clutch
depressed, you do this with ZERO oil pressure. The same applies for
compression starting.
