Hi all,
I might be wrong, but aren't there some rules about what cars are
eligable for vintage racing. What I mean is...Doesn't the car need to be
a former racer with a documented log book and history? I have always
been under this impression and think it might be true at least as far as
the SVRA (sports car vintage racing assn)is concerned. Maybe someone can
shed a little light on this.
I have owned 2 former SCCA F production Alpines. They were both serious
contenders and big rivals. The first was owned by Sports Car Forum out
of Columbus, Ohio. It was Moonstone with 2 blue stripes down the center.
The car is no longer with us since it was too far gone to save. The
second was owned by a man named Bob Kimes. This car was Wedgewood Blue
with a dark blue strip that had white accent stripes on each side of it.
I sold the car after my thoughts of vintage racing dissolved, but the
car is now available again and Jan Servaites and I are going to go see
it tomorrow night. This is a neat car and it has had all of the racing
tricks done to it. There is a full roll cage (it was added later in the
cars history). Doug Jennings tells me that he has the original log book
for this car too. I'm not sure how he ended up with it. Anyways, sounds
like racing Alpines are making a comeback! If anyone out there has any
interest, I'm putting a section together for racing Alpines on the web
site www.sunbeamalpine.org. I would like to get your Alpine in there. -
