Well my V6 project is really being held up by electrical issues -
mainly the fact that I can't figure out how to get the battery
charged. I'm about reaady to give up and take it to an electrical
shop for a complete re-wiring while the car is still gutted!
So here's my problem (again):
76 Capri V6 motor. Alternator re-built and working according to the
test I performed from the manual. In the back there is a D+ plug, a
B+ plug, and and one in the middle which is not labled. Previously
there was a harness connected to this. I don't see any external
regulator. I went to a wrecking yard and found a car to try and
trace the wires to no avail. It SEEMS that the B+ (B for battery?)
should go to the ammeter which then goes to the positive side where
the battery cables connect. I'm told one of the other plugs is for
the warning light. I haven't tried taking the ammeter out of the
equation, but my guess is that it should at least pass electricity
(?). It seems (remembering back when I used to make flashlights and
little motor powered cars) that there should be a ground and/or
something to create the loop.
Anyone know how this is supposed to be wired?
Am I going to have this much trouble with the turn signals, lights,
etc.!?
Anyone know about how much it would cost (in the inflated Bay Area)to
get this thing completely re-wired by someone who knows what they are
doing? $1,000 would be worth it!
Thanks for reading all of this!
