well, here's my question. I have a 66, but the engine i believe is a 69. the
engine # is 61XXX. i don't belive i have any smog equip on my car and it
does seem to idle a bit rough. haven't checked the timing, what should i set
it to????????.......Chris
66 1600 (with engine #61XXX)

This is not completely correct.

Stock, original, unmodified 68-70 cars have a distributor curved to aid
in the reduction of smog emissions, thus they are timed differently.

For PRE-68 cars (SU), timing is 16 BTDC

For 68 and newer that have the FACTORY distributor, the timing is
ZERO BTDC. If you run a stock 68-70 car with advance, you risk
detonation and eventual engine destruction.

If your 68 or newer car has either a pre-68 or a recurved distributor,
then the 16 degree figure is probably correct.
