Should work, Ronnie.  If I'm picturing your idea correctly, I think you should
include something to keep your assembly from rotating under hard deceleration,
i.e., accident loading.

I'd been think about
having a couple of "tabs" cut out of maybe 1/4 inch plate, then welding some
heavy wall tubing between them. The tabs would bolt to the points Gary's
referring to, and competion style shoulder harnesses could be wrapped arounf
the tubing. This would be basically the same idea as a harness bar in an
enclosed car.
