I take it you don't like the shoulder belt mounting point in the side of the
rear wheel arch?  (All '67-1/2 and later cars have them.)

I've been looking into a shoulder belt solution, so when I passed by a
friend's BMW Z3 the other day I took a closer look at the upper attachment
point.  Here's a pic:

The Miata is very similar.  Has anyone tried to do
anything like this,
instead of a roll bar?
