Not really a metaphor. Those who were at Siebkins during the spring  
race (I think it was an SVRA one, but I'm sure someone will set me  
straight if I was wrong) may be acquainted with the bandolier of  
bachelorettes. A fine bevy of young ladies showed up wearing  
strangely colored wigs with a chaperone who seemed to be more likely  
to get into deep trouble than her charges. They danced like wild  
druids, held BS Levy up when he did a kind of matlock-style stage  
dive into their midst, and performed a chair dance on one of the  
mechanics in the middle of the dance floor.  Then returned to Green  
Bay, leaving a trail of broken hearts.
