I believe your initial assessment is correct.  That was my thought looking at 
the photo ... quick fix to get through an event / race.  You sound smart in 
replacing both masters and correcting the hook-ups.

Hi Gang, 
 
I am trying to understand what may have happened with the duel master set up 
and it's plumbing. 
 
The front and rear circuits are both coming out of the right hand cylinder 
while the left hand cylinder is returning to itself. The car does have a prop 
valve for the rear brakes located in the cockpit.
 
One person suggested the the driver may have had a problem during a race 
weekend and simply re-plumbed to make it through a race weekend. The car was 
last raced in Sept 1976.
 
Should a line for each circuit simply go to each master cylinder? I have 2 new 
ones on order.
 
Your thoughts are appreciated!
