I would say the reason for not allowing monocoque construction is this.
Without expensive professional stress analysis, it would be impossible for
the untrained eye to evaluate the strength of my good cardboard structure and
someone else's bad thermoformed kevlar piece. We all can judge good or bad
welds. This is just a way to hopefully stall the inevitable, and keep our
sport an an affordable hobby. Jack
