I usually finish those fishmouth joints (and others) with a half-round file.
It leaves a nice, clean close-fitting end.

I cut all my tubing with a chop saw and I own a Rockwell tester...there is
almost no hardening at the end of the tubing to speak off. Besides, don't
you guys grind the fishmouth on the tube end? That would get rid of anything
left.
