The safety industry has known about this problem for many years now. Air bags
only improve your chances over regular seat belts by 2 to 3%. And that's only
if you actually have the seat belt on. Personally I'd rather save the $1000 to
$2000 on the cost of a new car and just "Buckle-Up". We do it in our race
cars!

This note is to remind everyone of the danger of airbags to our childern.

This past Friday one of my son's classmates, 6th grade, was killed in a minor
traffic accident by the airbag in his brother's car.
David was sitting in the front seat when his brother hit a light pole,
details
unsure. The airbag snapped his neck when it deployed. David was almost 12
years old, about 90 lb. His brother will lose an eye from damage caused by
his
airbag.

The general rule of thumb is to keep the kids in the back seat. My truck has
only a single bench seat but the passenger airbag
can be disabled by a switch on the dash. I have the bag always disabled
because I pick Alex up from school each day. Sometimes I forget to enable it
when I have an adult with me.

Please review you and your families' procedures when haulin' the little ones
around. A life of only 12 years is a real waste.
