Doug and list:

I saw that part in the rule book requiring a driver in
the car when car is jacked and gear is engaged. Great
idea and safe too. What I was thinking about had to do
with cars sporting marginal brakes. At least some of
the lakesters I have seen, have marginal breaks. My
lakester has rear breaks only and are good primarily
for rolling the car around and maybe a little speed
scrub after a pass. I wouldn't count on them to hold
the car under power while in gear, especially if the
tires are rotating and it should come off the jack.
OK, I can hear the replies, "Never happened yet" and
"Nobody has ever gotten hurt". I hope it remains that
way.

Maybe competitors are not supposed to buzz the engine
while in gear but some do. I have witnessed this first
hand. The point is, marginal breaks may not hold the
car if it comes off the jack.
