Joe,
On my 2001 Honda Odyssey the cruise control, auto trans and engine are
all controlled
by the same computer. It unlocks much earlier in cruse than manual
throttle. I don't
know it that the case on your car but it sounds like the cruse control
and the trans controller
are talking to each other.
One thing is for sure, never go within 5 miles of that Jeep dealer. Your
converter clutch
alone can't cause your problem.
Try and find a dealer who will check Technical Service Bulletins for
you. Sounds like
a software bug to me.
