Hi Elon,

Also ...

A few years back (3-4?), the classes were restructured, and the existing
records were tossed in the bucket. That created a whole slew of open
minimums ... which are being nibbled at each year.

Elon:
I'm certainly not the best person to answer this-- there are SCTA officials
on the list-- but since nobody seems to be responding, I will.

It is my understanding that if a category is listed in the Rule Book, then
it is definitely "allowed". Either nobody has tried for that record, or
nobody has been able to put together two runs that they wanted to claim for
the record-- or, in some cases, a qualifier may have gotten disqualified due
to a rules infraction. Anyway-- those are "open" records.

Typically, they are classes which haven't been as popular in these venues.

Small-engined cars seem to be getting more interest lately, though. Wonder
if that new popularity has something to do with ONE-liter dudes going faster
than anybody has ever been with THREE liters--??

There are various places in the rule book where records (or minimums) do
not exist for a certain engine size. This usually occurs at the lower
designations like F, G, H, I etc. Is this because the engine size is not
allowed or because no one has ever entered an engine size in that
class? -Elon
