Thanks, Bill. The numbers you mention are for pass-around audience; it's a
number that is published by the Audit Bureau of Circulation and that's
considered the standard for the publishing industry. Agencies use it for
ad-buying decisions. However, many people consider it bogus, but at least
uniformly bogus for all the magazines that are audited by ABC. Paid audience
for HOT ROD is closer to 700,000, so the pass-around number means that more
than 10 people see each copy. You make the call. Nevertheless, HRM has the
third largest circulation behind Motor Trend and C&D. And out company has
just made a HUGE (and rare) investment to push us up to number one. You'll
witness it in the July issue.

Thus ends the publishing business monologue.

I don't know if everyone here knows it, but I recently saw somewhere(and
it looked authoritative) that Hot Rod Magazine sells around 7.9 million
copies a month, second in sales only to Car & Driver which does 9
million, among the automotive magazines.

If that's true, congratulations to David; that's a big operation to ride
herd on.  As Editor, he's responsible for everything there, and sales
