Another story on slide rules...

once upon a time long ago, I was going to college for the second or third
time, I don't remember, but one of our "fellow" students, from an oil rich
nation, cornered me and wanted to know how to use a slide rule in case his
magical calculator failed during an exam...I just told him to buy better
batteeeries... I was considerably older than he and he was presumptous in
his knowledge that I knew how to use one being so old...plus he was pushy)..
