As I wrote before, the JCB is a over engineered race car with far too much
design developement - one of the important things they couldn't fix - the tire
going fast enough for the speed potential of the car.
But in the other hand - say thanks to this guy, so Bonneville got another free
advertisment after the World Fastest Indian - the Honda affort was a "joke"
but the JCB record is a world wide recognized record attempt, especially in
Europe, where diesel is much more popular than in the states.
If I write speed potential - this car was from the cheer power not on the
limit - to go really fast you need torque - and a diesel got more than enough
of them. Where a normal gas engine is losing the torque the diesel starts with
the real power - with the power you need to be pusched through the air.
And a other thing, they test the car some weeks ago in England for the first
time and now they set a new limit for diesel records, also with the 1 hour
return FIA rule - how long need some teams to get there racer real running.
Also, in the states, if someone is serious to build a diesel racer (Banks got
the Hoffman & Markley, but the racer is in the backyard without any work on),
they can go into the same level as the JCB - this guys was no wizards.
