<< Yes, I think cost DOES matter. I don't want to put $25,000 into a car that
 will be worth $15, 000!!

The only solution is to buy a car all finished to avoid the high costs, but
then do you have what you want ????? My car is the way I want it, color,
accessories, extra chrome, regular gas, "A" rear end with a hitch to pull a
trailer.. This was accomplished in the buying of a car in sound shape body
wise, no rust !!! Most major work was done by MG experts who do this for a
living, as I feel things should be done right the first time with no added
costs doing things over due to mistakes. If you have someone living close by
that can help you, go for it !!!
Myself, I have a full time job that I feel I have much expertise in... I work
much overtime in my job and have little time for a restoration but can do some
little things !!! Since my car had major work done, 4-5 years, I have broke
the crankshaft $$$ and just a year ago I put a rod through the block $$$ in
which I pulled the engine to get it fixed.... I hate working on anything
mechanical as this is the type of work I do 10-12 hours a day !!!!! (not cars)
I love driving my car and want it ready when I can find time & weather to
drive it !!!!
I look at this car as an "Investment", a certificate of deposit that you can
drive and Enjoy, you can't take it with you !!!!

Yes, I think cost DOES matter. I don't want to put $25,000 into a car that
will be worth $15, 000!!
I've restored two t-cars, a '51 and a '55 and did not get financially
upside-down in either.
However, I received about $1.00/Hour for my labor (but that doesn't matter,
'cause I had so much fun doing the restorations)
