There is another alternative.  Here in Connecticut, even though we're 
supposed to have a front plate, I've never put one on.  No one has stopped me 
yet in 
ten years of driving the car regularly.  I keep it in the back with a little 
bailing wire anyway, just in case.  So far so good.  I think the car looks far 
better without it.  If stopped, you can make the excuse that you're going to a 
show...  front plates were not original and you'd loose points, etc., etc.  
In short, it's a travesty to mess up the front of a beautiful car.
