I've had my hood for about six years now (mainly down, it has to be said)=
 and 
it is virtually unmarked.  When the rear is unhooked I fold the sides in =
then 
the back forward so that any folds are where the black stuff is, not the =

transparent stuff.  Lift the header rail back and down whilst holding the=
 rear 
edge up, then bring the back edge forward and down.  It's possible to get=
 the 
black stuff to lay across the header rail fasteners rather than the windo=
ws.  
Fasten the straps to keep it all in place then fit the tonneau cover.
