Yes, Kai's right.  Optimum tire PSI depends not on the particular tire,
but on the overall weight and weight distribution of the car.  The idea
is to keep the tire's contact patch consistent.  Too little or too much
air distorts the tire's contact patch, thereby reducing it.

Recommended PSI for the (well, my) MGB is 27 front, 32 rear.  For
slightly tighter handling and slightly better gas mileage (I do a lot of
freeway driving) I run mine at 32 front 37 rear.  I haven't noticed any
horrible wear patterns at this pressure.

Of course, I have a fever too, so I may be DELUSIONAL as well (note
spelling, Kai - if you critici[sz]e other people's spelling, you have to
be prepared to accept same).
