I imagine most of us lay-persons have at least a few of these lying
around,
i know i do - good examples -

any kind of nut splitter - usually you will tighten them so much they
will sieze
and you have a rock-solid nut with a bloody splitter welded to it!

anything which is advertised on television - i have all manner of devices
which
allegedly tighten, loosen, cut or otherwise make life easier....fools and
their money....

cutting wheels for 4" grinders - break on impact, usually missing an eye
by about
a quarter of an inch, alternatively veering off violently and scratching
anything in its path

basically all you need is a bicycle repair kit, a hacksaw, some wire wool
and sandpaper
and a bit of carpet to roll it all up in, anything more exotic scares the
cars anyway!
