Early years only had the run position, later years had an 'accessories' as
well (green/black) which has its own in-line fuse.  Some years (like circa
73) have wipers, washers and heater fan off this position and not the Run
position.  The latest cars had three seperately fused branches of the green
circuit - one from the fuse block and the other two off in-line fuses, all
powered from the ignition.  Hazards have their own in-line fuse direct off
the brown.  Interior lights, horns, cigar lighter are off the purple.  The
charge light shouldn't be live on either side when the ignition is off and
certainly shouldn't be lit when the ignition is off.  If yours does this it
implies that one or more of your alternator diodes has gone short.
