Ken,
Three things which were similar have happened to Matilda. When our area here
in Texas changed to the new fuels the diaphragm in her fuel pump gradually de-
laminated. Next while on a run with the club she would go for a bit and then
die like fuel starvation had happened. Bob Noguera kept insisting that I
check the filter. I of course knew that could not be right (had switched to
an electric pump) and tore down the ignition system instead. As the problem
persisted, she would go a quarter mile and die, I finally removed the tire a
got to the filter which was full of what looked like melted lipstick. The new
gas formula was cleaning out the fuel system of all the lead and stuff.
Lastly there are a lot of bum condensers and they come unsoldered where the
wire fits against the dimple in the end of the body of the condenser and you
have to really look hard to find it is not soldered.
