In defense of R&T, they have always concentrated on new cars, with a few
stories about old cars thrown in for good measure. In the old days that
meant lots of articles about British roadsters and other quirky machines of
the day, and a few about prewar classics. I doubt R&T readers of the 60s
were any more (or less) interested in cars of the teens through '30s than
todays readers are in cars of '50s through '70s. As everyone knows, most
of the sports cars in US showrooms (and all the affordable and
semi-affordable ones) are made in Japan, Germany, Detroit, and South
Carolina. So that's what they write about. ***Obligatory Morgan content***
Nowadays, the cheapest new British sports car is the +8 at nearly $70k -
that's not R&T's fault... Thankfully there are plenty of other publications
catering to the die-hard British car enthusiast.
