Another thought is about water pump efficiency. I'm not an inliner so I can 
only speak from a V8 point of view, but,
as stated in "Chevrolet small-block V-8 interchange manual" by David Lewis 
the factory water pumps left much room for improvement. On most pumps, the 
distance between the impeller and the back cover is too great allowing 
water to slip off the impeller blades. You might see high efficiency pumps 
offered by after-market vendors, these are more than likely pumps where a 
plate has been riveted to the back cover, reducing the distance between the 
cover and impeller and allowing less water slip.

Just a thought.....
