The Blue Flame name may have been more wildly used than just the corvette. .
. I've never heard of it mentioned separately from the vette though; however,
at the very least, there was a special version Blue Flame Six for the
Corvette starting in 1953 and phased out in 1955 when the 265 V8 first came
out. Almost all '55's had the V8. There were only about 2000 '54's (don't
have my book in front of me) and there were only 300 '53's made so your
chances of running across one of these sixes is pretty slim.

The vette Blue Flame six was rated at 150hp and used 3 side-mounted
carbureters; two air cleaner styles were available. . .one type looked like a
bullet; the other kind of like a small standard style laid on its side. A
3-speed manual wasn't added til 1955, so all the sixes I know of had
automatics.

I've always thought it would be kindof cool to have a vette 6 intake/carb
setup on an old truck; however those parts alone would probably cost the same
as most of the price of the truck. . .restored 53-55's are now rated at
$40K-$90K per condition.

If I dig long enough, I should be able to find some pictures from various
vette expos I've been to; let me know if anyone is interested.
