This reminds me... there was a discussion a while back on the Corvette list
(and an article in one of the vette magazines) about the additive NTBE
(that's the right acronym, isn't it?) that they put in all gasoline for a
while and supposedly just recently stopped.  It eats away at regular rubber
fuel line.  While the additive was being used, the recommendation was
replacing rubber fuel lines every 2 years to prevent fire.  As you can
imagine, this is an especially big concern with the vettes since once that
fiberglass starts burning you end up with just this lump of mess with a
bigger engine lump up front.

Although, I'm fairly sure the Listee was talking about metal lines.
