The 3:38 is an after market gear set that fits the original rear end 
carrier sold my most vendors. After you factor in replacing all the 
bearings, it becomes a very costly project. Maybe 600 or so to complete it. 
I found it easier to just replace the rear end from a donor vehicle and 
continue on.    --wayne
