I believe any chemical should be used with proper safety measures as
described in the MSDS sheets, MEK and Naphtha has a very low threshold
compared to some of the ingredients in modern paints. I too was an aircraft
mech for 35 years and we used this stuff when I started and they were still
using it when I retired, but we were taught to clean the parts with the
stuff not our bodies. I agree that any petroleum product can be dangerous in
some respect so proper caution should be exercised.
