Not to beat a dead brake cylinder to death, but Im on a lil' Tbird list and
there have been a spate of total hydraulic failures (remember single system
on 55-57 birds) around 12 months after conversion to silicone. The problem
was that the brake light switch internals blew out the back of the assy
leaving a very big hole! Seemed that the after marketers had been bringing
in honkenese switches that were being disolved by the silicone. They work
great with DOT 3/4 but not silicone. In each case the failure was without
any presymptom and was total. Other guys then removed their switches and
found the filler material had softened. It makes for riveting reading! I
havent read about anyone having a similar problem with spridget switches so
maybe our suppliers are smarter? Larry Cogan Cent Florida.
